Reptile Breeding Projects

Red Stripes
We originally acquired one male and three female red stripes from HQ reptiles in the winter of 2000. Since then we have been selective color breeding and out breeding them for more intense orange, bolder, and cleaner stripes. We did this by taking the best red stripes that we produced in 2002 and out bred them into brightly colored bold stripes and orange rainbow stripes. We continued to out breed our red stripe stock in 2003 and we produced a large variety of red stripes to choose from for our new breeders in 2004. When we picked out the breeders for 2004 we were very selective on what we chose to breed. When the babies hatched in the 2004 season the results were amazing all the traits that we were breeding for showed up on a good number of red stripes. We picked out all the red stripes with the best qualities to breed for 2005. We selected the red stripes that kept the most vivid, intense, deep orange, bold, stripes, and the red stripes that had the least amount of black. We selected the best looking red stripes and raised them up past 40 grams and then we hand picked the red stripes that kept these extraordinary colors. We have some amazing looking red stripes for this breeding season but they will start to breed a little later than usual this year. We will start offering more red stripes for sale in the end of 2007 and all of 2008.

Red Stripe Tremper Albinos
This is a very unique and rare designer morph, and it's also one of our favorite designer morphs. Their are very few breeders with even decent looking red stripe tremper albinos. This project was a very difficult accomplishment and it took us two years to produce the first red stripe tremper albino in 2005. Fortunatley it was a male and he was the only red stripe albino we had, we bred him to a few nice looking red stripe het tremper albinos that we had and a few tangerine stripe tremper albinos. We kept back all of the best red stripe het tremper albinos and the best looking red stripe tremper albinos that had the clearest marked red stripe pattern on their backs, and the whitest dorsal stripes that complimented the two deep orange stripes going down their backs. We bred them together and and we picked out the best looking ones once again and they are now our breeders for 2007. We will be releasing our red stripe tremper albinos Fall of 2007 or winter of 2008.
Take a look at our red stripe tremper albino breeders and you can see why they are one of our favorite designer morphs. The two bright orange stripes trailing down their backs appear to be melting and the cream colored dorsal stripe that divides their intense orange stripes make them look as if they were painted.

Super Hypos
We obtained a few super hypos back in 2000 from a variety of small breeders. We bred our own blood line of hypo tangerine that we were working on in 2001 into our unrelated super hypos. Our goal is to selectively color breed our super hypos for clean vibrantly colored spot less bodies, and intense orange carrot tails. We continue to out breed our super hypos into new unrealted blood lines to maintain a strong blood line of super hypos. Our super hypos that we selected to breed for 2007 are sure to produce amazing off spring.

JMG Sun Glows
We have been working on this project for over five years now and our goal with this project has been accomplished. The characteristics of our sun glows are a pure white tail with light pattern, solid deep orange bodys that display more than the usual amount of orange than other sun glow albinos, and finally white and orange heads that can vary from having nearly pure white heads to half orange and half white marbled pattern heads. These are some of the most unusual Tremper albino sun glows just becasue of the intense orange they dispaly and their unique features that seperate them from all of the other sun glows out their.
We have sold very few sun glow trempers from our blood line and we will be releasing more in Fall 2007 and 2008.

Blood Hypos and Tangerines
We have been working on our own line of tangerine leopard geckos for over five years now. When we started this project we focused on breeding tangerines that had really deep orange colored body's that had a near red tint to them. Most of these unique tangerines had minimal amounts of orange on their heads but their body's were filled with intense color. Over the years of line breeding these one of a kind tangerines we have finally obtained our goal of producing the closest to red hypo tangerines on the leopard gecko market. Not only are they bursting with deep orange and have shades of red but they don't resemble any other line of tangerines that are out their.
This year we started to breed some of our new line of tangerines to our bell albinos and tremper albinos and we will soon be offering tremper albinos and bell albinos from our blood hypo blood line. We will be releasing the first blood hypo's in 2008. We will also have regular tangerines for sale also.
Take a look at some of our blood hypo breeders and you will see why they are so unique!

Tremper albinos
We are currently working on many projects involving Tremper albinos. Our main projects are tangerine reverse stripe albinos, tangerine albinos, giant albinos, sun glows, Raptors, Tremper albino snows and super snows, tremper snow giants, and red stripe tremper albinos.
We bought our original stock of tangerine tremper albinos in 2000 from Ron Tremper. Since then we have been selective color breeding our tangerine albinos for intensely rich orange coloration. The one thing that makes the tangerine tremper albinos so unique is how their orange coloration develops. The tangerine coloration becomes more vivid and intense as the gecko ages. They tend to look their best at a year of age, and they seldom lose their coloration after aging and being bred.
We bought more tangerine tremper albinos, tangerine reverse striped albinos in 2003 and at Daytona 2004 we also purchased some giants from Ron Tremper so that we could keep our out standing tremper albinos out bred with an incredible blood line.
In 2005 we purchased a few eclipse and raptors and we are currently working on making some really nice eclipse and raptors by crossing them into our highest quality tremper albinos

Bell Albinos
We started working with these beautifully unusual albinos in 2002. When we first saw them we knew that we could make wild looking combinations with this strain of albino. We have been producing some out standing bell albinos over the years and we are always impressed by the combinations made with this strain of albino. They are one of our favorite morphs to work with and a must have in every body's leopard gecko collection. We have been producing red stripe bell albinos, sun glow bell albinos, tangerine bell albinos, tangerine jungle bell albinos, snow bell albinos, a few reverse stripe bell albinos, and a new color morph: the RADAR bell albino!!! Once you see some of our breeder bell albinos you will see why they are a must have in every body's leopard gecko collection! We will have a lot of amazing bell albinos available in winter and spring 2008!

Special Note: All of our Bell albinos have been test bred and are 100% pure bell albino! There have been rumors spreading that we are selling Tremper Bell crosses as pure Bells and not disclosing this to the buyers. Unfortunately this is a pathetic attempt by our competitors, to discredit us and gain sales. It is a competitive business and you can't believe everything you read on the Internet.

Radar Bell Albinos
This is a brand new color morph that many people knew would some day be created. Radar Bell albinos are either snake eyed or eclipse eyed Bell albinos. The solid red eye and snake eye trait in the RADAR's is the same trait that is in Tremper's raptors. The Radar Bell albinos are 0% possible het for any other recessive trait. They are 100% pure Bell albinos!
We started on this project in 2005 when we aquired an eclipse male. we bred him to a few possible het raptor females and we produced raptors and eclipses possible het tremper albino. We kept and raised up all of the eclipse possible het tremper albino males that we produced and we bred each male to two tremper albino females. Out of the eight eclipse males that we test bred to prove if they were het tremper albino or not only one male turned out to be not het tremper albino. We bred him to five bell albino females that are 0% het for any other recessive trait and we kept all of their baby's to breed to each other. Four months ago we started breeding the double het bell albino eclipses together and so far we have hatched out three Radar Bells. The oldest Radar we currently have hatched out May 6th.
Radar bell albinos are going to be very popular for sure, and going by how odd looking and seeing the variation of color and pattern on RAPTOR's it will be interesting to see all of the variations of Radar Bell albinos. If you like working with jungles, tangerines, reverse stripes, eclipse eyed color morphs, sun glow bell albinos, and just tangerine bell albinos then this project is definetly for you becasue with the Radar Bell albinos you can produce all of the above!
We will be releasing Bell albinos 100% het for Radar in 2008 and in the end of 2008 we may release a few Radar Bells also.

Cremesicles
This new project is one of the most unique Co-dominant snow projects that we are working with. Not only are the cremesicles a unique morph they are very beautiful looking and they are something that is very new compared to all of the color morphs of leopard geckos out their.
What makes a cremesicle? Cremesicles are top notch four and five star quality high contrast, white, bright yellow, and orange super hypo Co-dominant snows. They usually can't be made by just one or two generations of breeding Co-dominant snows to super hypos. All of the cremesicles that we are selling in 2007 are third generation super hypo X hypo/ super hypo Co-dominant snows. We produced over one hundred and twenty second generation super hypo co-dominant snows in 2006. We kept back the twenty best female super hypo Co-dominant snows that stayed pretty and we bred them to different looking high contrast super hypo males. All of the 2006 second generation female cremesicles that were selected for this project didn't turn dark, grey, dirty yellow, or any other un attractive colors after breeding. Cremesicles always keep a decent amount of white and they never turn plain yellow. Some adult cremesicles will have a light lemon yellow tint over their body but they never completely yellow out. Cremesicles as they age will some times display some outrageous color transformations, a lot of them will have a faded orange coloration on their sides and lavender saddles that are bordered by intense bright white and then later on their lavender saddles can turn a a bright yelllow green color. All of them seem to develop differently but they all turn out to be stunning. If you breed a cremesicle to a super hypo you are going to produce some average looking super hypo Co-dominant snows as well. This will help keep the price up on cremesicles for a while, and the quality of cremesicles can always be improved on over the years. It will be very interesting to see the improvements made on cremesicles in the next few years.

Lavender and Lavender Red Stripes
In 2003 we produced a very odd looking stripe from our out bred red stripe blood line. He had a very bright yellow background color and intense lavender following down his bold stripe. The lavender never faded away and he kept all of his brilliant colors into adult hood. We decided to pair him up with a female that was also produced in 2003. She also displayed bright yellow coloration and a good amount of lavender running down her stripe. She is over two years old and since then her yellow has faded out but she still has a good amount of lavender running down her bold stripe. We have been line breeding lavender stripes produced from the origianl pair since 2004 and we now have stripes that are very high contrast and they keep most of their lavender into adult hood. In 2006 we produced over twenty lavender stripes and we kept them all back and raised them to ten months old before we sold them. At nine months old they were all over 45 grams and they all had a considerable amount of lavender, very few of them lost a lot of lavender and the ones that did lose more lavender than the others never completely lost all of it. Our five best looking lavender stripes from 2005 have been bred two years in a row now and they still have a lot of lavender and they are also high contrast and many people that see them say they can't beleived that they are as old as they are.
This is a very exciting project and at the moment very few people see the real potential in these. This is the FIRST line bred trait that holds and keeps lavender coloration no matter the age. Lavender stripes when crossed with red stripes make unbelievable looking baby's. Also imagine this morph as a bell albino. Everybody knows that a lot of enigmas have really nice lavender colored saddles, could you imagine what an enigma with a considerable amount of lavender on it would make when crossed with a lavender stripe that has huge bands of lavender running down each side of it's stripe. Also a lot of lavender stripes have pink hue's and purple tints over their tails and some times their heads also. We have sold only a few lavender stripes so far. We will have really nice lavender stripes available in 2007 and 2008!

Co Dominant Snow
We are currently working with many color morph combinations involving the Co-dominant snows. Take a look at our breeders and some of the baby's that we have been producing. For 2007 and 2008 we will have Co-Dom snow stripes, snow hypo's, snow super hypo's, snow bells, super snow bells, jungle snow bells, snow blizzards, snow tremper albinos, snow tremper albino giants, super snow trempers, snows 100% het raptor, snow raptors, and regular super snows. Also if you really like Co-dom snows take a look at our new cremesicle project!

Hyper Xanthic
Hyper: increase, excessive amount.
Xanthic: possessing more that the normal amount of yellow.

We decided to start this project in 2002 when we hatched out a very odd looking leopard gecko, she displayed a excessive amount of yellow and she was also very high contrast. We started selective color breeding these beautiful geckos for more intense yellow, then in 2004 we started producing hyper xanthics with yellow trailing down their tails. Now in 2007 we finally really started producing what we originally had in mind when we started this project. This year we have produced hyper xanthics with bright flourescent yellow on their body, on their heads, and on the base and parts of their tails also. The hyper xanthics we have been producing also have nice velvet black spotting on their heads and body. They are very high contrast and these are such a unique morph because the only other projects you ever see focusing on yellow in leoaprd geckos are just the plain high yellows.
In 2008 we will be releasing the first high quality and the first true hyper xanthic leoaprd geckos.

Enigmas
The enigma is a dominant trait originally produced by Mark and Kim Bell. A dominant trait is identical looking in the heterozygous and the homozygous form and can't be distinguished just by looking at them. This is definetly the most exciting and unique color morph on the leopard gecko market. Their is so many new color morph combinations to be made with this new trait and the enigmas will be the key to making some of the best looking designer morphs. Their are already many amazing looking enigmas and they haven't even been out that long. These for sure are a must have for any leopard gecko breeder. The enigma trait enhances all of the leopard gecko morphs out their so if you like tangerines, snows, or some other type of color morph the enigma trait when combined with that paticualr morph will only make it look unbeleivable.
Take a look at our Co-Dominant snow enigmas, bell albino enigmas, and het bell albino enigmas and you will see why these are the hottest morph on the leopard gecko market.

Albino Fat tailed geckos
We have been breeding fat tailed geckos since 1998 and we love working with them. They're a much more layed back gecko and they are incredibly friendly.
In our collection we are working with a group of albino and het albino fat tailed geckos. We have a group of out bred albinos along with het albino fat tailed geckos that we will be breeding in 2005. We have also been out breeding our albinos into wild caught stock to ensure a strong blood line. We now have a strong blood line of albino fat tails for 2007 but we will only be releasing a limited number of het albino and albino fat tails in 2007 due to how many we are using to breed into our new color morphs of fat tails that we are working on.
We are selectively breeding our albino fat tailed geckos for more intense orange. We will have a fair number of intense orange albinos available in 2008. An intense orange albino fat tailed gecko is a must see. They look unreal in person!

African Fat tail Gecko NEW Morph the "White Out"
We proved the white out trait to be Co-dominant. This new fat tail color morph will be sure to make the popularity of fat tailed geckos sky rocket. With this one of a kind morph their will be many new color morph combinations to be made when crossed into other fat tailed gecko morphs. We currently have a waiting list for the white out fat tails and we will be releasing the first white outs in August or September of 2008. We are only releasing females the first year and they will start out at $00.00 to $00.00 each. Because of the popularity of fat tails, and the fact they are no where near as prolific as leopard geckos, and the fact their hasn't been a new morph in fat tailed geckos since the albinos these will hold their price for a long time. E-mail us now at jeff@jmgreptile.com to be put on the waiting list for the white out fat tails.

Patternless Fat Tail
Here is a brand new pattern morph of the fat tailed gecko! A pattern less! We still have to do test breedings with this trait to see exactly how it works. This morph will make the popularity of fat tails go up even higher especially once the albino pattern less, and white out pattern less are made. I think every body will want a pattern less fat tail once they see a deep solid orange albino pattern less fat tail. In 2008 we will release more information on the pattern less fat tail, but until then every body will have to wait.

Viper Geckos
We have been working with these little geckos since 2002. They're a hardy little terrestrial gecko that originate from the middle east. Their care is very simple. They are nocturnal so they do not require UVA or UVB lighting. They can be kept in a five gallon tank or in a plastic shoe box that is well ventilated. We use heat tape to heat the bottoms of their cages, we keep the heated side at 90 degrees Fahrenheit and the cool side of the cage at room temperature ( mid 70 degrees Fahrenheit).  We use paper towels for the bottom of their enclosure and cut up Dixie cups for them to hide under. We always have a shallow water bowl available that they can access, and they need to be misted once a day. Babies hatch out at about 3/4 inch long and they feed on 1/8 size crickets and fruit flies as babies. They can reach adult size in 4-5 months and we feed our adult viper geckos 1/2 size crickets. Males can be kept together, our breeding groups consist of two males with five females in a breeding group. They are very prolific, females lay two eggs per clutch normally every week and can easily lay fifteen to twenty clutches a breeding season.
